Clinical Science Rotation 

In this four week rotation we worked with our Capstone Project team. We worked under our supervisor, Dr. David Palma who is a Radiation Oncologist, and a Radiation Oncologist Fellow, Dr. Katie Jasper. We attended virtual rounds in which different physicians discussed complex cancer cases for second opinions. We also attended seminars to understand different topics in cancer such as, "Fertility Preservation for Medical Reasons." For our final deliverable we are working on publishing a paper looking at on-going active trials associated with de-escalation strategies related to Human papillomavirus (HPV) induced oropharyngeal cancer (HPV-OPC). HPV-OPC is a highly treatable cancer but the treatments can cause acute and long term toxicity. Our paper aims to gather data on-going active trials to create a summary for physicians and clinical scientists to use for future decisions regarding patient treatment option. I will post more about the paper once it has been published.
